Navaratri 3rd day
Hey friends, yesterday I told you the story of ma Brahmacharini. After Goddess Parvati won Lord Shiva's heart she was prepared for her wedding. Lord Shiva was supposed to come to Goddess Parvati's house for the wedding. On that Lord Shiva came with his followers or Gan pret or ghosts. They were all covered in ash and drunk. Lord Shiva also was covered in ash himself. Seeing such a dangerous form of Lord Shiva Devi Mianti( Parvati's mother) fainted. Parvati was shocked. So she decided to convince Lord Shiva in leaving his ash-filled form.
Goddess Parvati took a very beautiful and mesmerizing form of Chandraghanta. She went to Lord Shiva and asked him to leave such a form. Mesmerized by Goddess Parvati's beauty Lord Shiva agreed. Lord Vishnu turned Lord Shiva's form into a rather more beautiful one, and from that Lord Shiva also got a new name Chandrashekar. So today or on the third day of Navaratri, we worship Ma Chandraghanta. Ma chandraghanta rides on a tiger. She has eight hands. She holds the Sudarshan chakra, Gada, a sword, bow and arrow, lotus, and a Trishul.
