Navaratri 2nd Day
Hey friends. I told you yesterday that Goddess Sati had been reborn as Pavati after the incident. Now Parvati's childhood was not like Sati's. She always knew about Lord Shiva and worshipped him. Once Parvati grew up she grew fond of Lord Shiva. She decided to meet Lord Shiva in Kailash Parvat. Biding goodbye to her parents she set off. She saw Lord Shiva in deep Sadhna. She couldn't wake him up. She tried every way. Then she called Kam dev for help. He shot one of his love arrows towards Lord Shiva. Once the arrows reached Lord Shiva he was very angry. He opened his eyes and turned Kam Dev into ashes.
Parvati went to Lord Shiva and pleaded so that he would accept her(She didn't have her memories of being Sati). But Lord Shiva refused. Parvati also didn't give up. She went into a cave in the mountains and started chanting Lord Shiva's name. She didn't eat or drink for days. Sometimes she would eat one or two leaves. Seeing Parvati in so much pain Lord Shiva agreed to marry her finally. The form of Parvati in which she did this tough journey to please Lord Shiva is known as Bramhacharini. Maa Bramhacharini has a pot in one hand and a necklace of beads in the other. Today or on the 2nd day of Navaratri we worship maa Bramhacharini.
